I heard from a non-traffic PC that there is a way of avoiding points endorsements.
Overpay the fine. A cheque for £60.01 cannot be processed and until it is the points will not go on your licence, you cannot be charged for failing to pay and end up playong postal ping-pong with the cheque in prepaid envelopes. Any comments?
Another option if you are not driving your own car is not to give your date of birth and push for court. Apparently you cannot be brought to court without a DoB. I don't like that one myself, it seems too easy so probably won't work.
Never in the UK. I believe that this trick worked in Australia for a while.
