Tonight I observed the process of a Policeman setting up a tripod mounted camera on the corner of my road.

He made sure the tripod was hidden behind a wall with the cam peeking over he top. For about 25 minutes he was stood there looking through the lens on and off, before buggering off.

Now he wasn't pulling anyone over, even though some people were clearly well in excess of the 30 limit. I thought Police pulled you over, issued a ticket (or warning) on the spot, rather than get a pile of videos and send a NIP through later.

It wasn't a safety camera partnership operation, I'm fairly sure of that, I've seen their regular vans, this was an ordinary Police car. Seemed like a utter waste of time. Is this the new breed of mobile camera, now the netting off period has ended?

You should of taken some photos and sent them to the local press and show the tax payers what the police are spending their money on.

a bit odd for them to use a camera on a tripod, the usually use it in hand held mode, even though the netting off era has gone the SCP's still have to advise their sits by signage, where has plod do not

Perhaps, the road was subject to complaints from residents about speed he might have been doing silent checks to se if it warranted it. So,In order for him not to slow vehicles down he kept himself discreet.
