Was this an accedent or a sinister new varient on flytipping?

The day the government stops charging (Individual*) people for disposal of stuff like this will be the day we can all look forward to a cleaner and safer world!

(* Yes I appreciate that correct disposal needs to be paid for but I feel it should be a collective responsibility paid out of the public purse. For instance consider the situation where a house has an asbestos garage roof. The garage was built in the twenties and the house has been occupied by 5 different owners before the current owner. The current owner might reasonably feel put upon that he should have to bear the "Entire" costs of disposal. Cosequently the garage roof ends up in a ditch down some country lane! which is bad for everybody and more expensive than it would have been if it had been disposed of "Free" (as it were))

Asbestos is free to dispose of for householders (you've paid for the service through your council tax and the LA has a legal duty to take household waste). Just pop down your local Civic Amenity Site (Tip) and there should be a suitable skip, if not then your LA should be able to point you to a site that can take it free of charge.

The costs are more in the removal from property, but if you're prepared to do the work yourself, and take a few precautions it shouldn't be anymore trouble than taking down a standard (wooden) garden shed.

It depends on the LA - same with tyres. We have to pay (OK its only a couple of quit per tyre, but that's not the point) to dispose of tyres here and guess what you see in all the laybys?

True, it does depend on the LA, sometimes the County Council has certain waste disposal obligations too, and when Unitary Authorities get invovled it's even worse.

I'd object if my LA started charging me for disposal of tyres, I think it may be worth finding out why. I guess it could be transport costs from the Waste Collection Authority to the Waste Disposal Authority or something silly like that.

I think that if you check the charges at your local tyre place that you pay them to get the old tyres disposed off - is it to the LA place or what.
Again - get yourself an acceptable trailer- take your debris up there -no charge -it's domestic.
Get a skip - it then becomes commercial and watch the charge go up.
