:stop:  All you wannabe :bib: s out there

University of Central Lancashire and Lancashire Constabulary have got together and have planned a new degree course for wannabe :bib:

This is to be a two year course:

Foundation Degree in Policing.

This is the first of its kind and set to start in September.

It is intended for those who wish to become a uniformed :bib: or work as civilian staff for the police.

It has been organised by this University's Department of Forensic and Investigative Science. The course has been introduced following the success of the Police and Criminal Investigation Degree course now in its sixth year.

Hmmm. horses for courses .. or how to be a Dick type in waiting

Love to know what BiB think about this.

By the way.. the forensic department gets some input from the local medical science labs and forensic accountancy specialists. Quite an involved course.

But does it fast track a police career? Or are officers who come up trained through the university of real life better equipped to deal with real criminals>

It doesn't matter how many paper qualifications someone has, you can't beat "real life" training no matter what the occupation.

As an example, we had a guy who I worked with a few years ago who had more paper qualifications from Microsoft than what you could shake a stick at.

Come the day that XP was released, we duly had our coporate copy and although we had no intention of rolling it out across the company there were a couple of us techies who wanted to install it on our own machines in order to test it out.

Every one of us who installed it had no problem in getting the machines joined to the domain except the guy with all the "qualifications". It transpired that even though he could talk a good job, he truly had no idea how to join an XP box to a domain.
