Not sure if ther's any real point to this thread, but it is a strange one that nearly ended up in the X - Files.
This is a TRUE STORY. I'll be leaving out ceratain details as I don't realy have a clue about the freedom of information act as of yet. This incident took place up north, on an unlit piece of dual carrigeway. This will make some smile, some 'tut tut', some rant or indeed all 3 :D .

It's very late at night. 2 traffic officers, are sat in their car in a police bay on this unlit section of dual carrigeway. There they are munching away when........eeeeeEEEEEEEOW "What the hell was that". The noise sounded like a car, so they put their lights on full beam, but saw nothing. Neither officer had seen any car lights either.

The following night, same time, same place and .......eeeeeEEEEEEOW, the same thing happens again. At the beggining of the next shift, they have a word with another traffic unit. This time they are still in the same police bay, but a mile up the road, is another traffic car in waiting. Munch munch and..................eeeeeEEEEEEOW, they hit the gas and take off but still see nothing. In the meantime they have allerted the other car which is now rolling allong at 50mph. As they approach the other traffic car, they see something a couple of hundred metres behind it shimmering in thier lights!!!! It was indeed a car, which pulled over when signalled to do so.

It turned out, that this was a black ferrari, being driven by an RAF pilot with his navigator next to him, both wearing night vision goggles :o :x :D  . I don't yet know the outcome of the court case, but I'll let you know when I do :!:

I'm sure you were told this was true in good faith, but Snopes says otherwise...

Still you never know, I'll pump him for info, and try to find the truth/legend of the matter.

There is every possibility however that this tale is true....

RAF pilots tend to be well educated and highly capable individuals who operate in world fuelled by large egos borne from their status and being constantly reminded by 'the system' that they are the best-of-the-best.
Put all this together and you have a cadre of individuals who tend to think that they are beyond reproach and definately not averse to indulging in some 'high-jinks'.
I speak as a recently retired RAF aircraft engineer, I've dealt daily with these individuals and reckon that there would be a few who are arrogant enough to both try it and think they could get away with it.
