It's only Monday and already I feel the need for a bit of light relief.

Some cars seem to attract a certain type of driver. We talked about this before.

Some cars seem to attract numpties more than others.

What is the number one car that you see that you would preconceive to be driven by a numpty?

I've thought about this a lot, and while OAP garden centre shopping trolleys (for example Vauxhaull Meriva/Agila etc./Suzuki Wagon R etc.) pose a strong challenge, my ultimate accolade goes to.....

The Citroen ZX

Image

Sorry if I've made a mortal enemy of any ZX drivers  , but they always seem to be driven by 40 everywhere/parallel park forwards/no indicators/no reversing on country lanes/covered in charity stickers and minor dents numpties....

Bizarrely they made a 150bhp one called the Volcane, but no ZX has ever been done for speeding. Ever. Probably.

Anyone else wish to make a nomination?

I emphasise that you cannot nominate a genre/manufacturer etc. You must nominate a single model. And give reasons.

Citroen Saxo

The driver is going to be one of;

Boy racer,
Young woman,
OAP.

My experience tells me to beware of any of them, so a Saxo is well up my list of things to look out for ;)

toyota picnic.

others cars may have a high likelyhood of containing idiots, but the picnic wins on being exclusively a means of conveyance for the silly hat brigade, cos anyone with any intrest at all in the driving experience would cut off limbs before being seen dead in something called a picnic.

Likewise the Emina makes me wonder who buys these pieces of Jap Crap.

On my morning commute - anything driven by someone in a yellow hi vis waistcoat, excepting BIB.

OOOPS, That would've been me this am, as I was working at the Southampton manufacturer of rum and alcopops, who stipulate you must wear one, then I just didn't get round to taking it off. I guess that last admission makes me a numpty.

Going to work -JTB - total herd instinct --safety in numbers, sticking close to car in front. Strangely enough traffic from this estate seems normal going home.( haven't been down there for a while:lol: )

Thirded. Convinced they're a trial car for 35mph max speed limiters.

Everything has its share of numpties, except maybe Westfield's etc. and other lightweight kit cars.

If you cannot drive properly and are in one of those you probably end up dead fairly quickly.

Saxo's with the playboy bunny and 'megababe' stickers in the back. Usually complete with pink fluffy steering wheel cover and complete munter for a driver.

Fourthded!

My wife used to have one and her driving was deplorable. (Oh I could tell you a story or two!!!)

Now she has a V6 Omega and she's pretty competent I have to say. Must be a confidence thing.

And put me down for No 6! I always call them "Microbes".

The Ka? Nasty little thing, but pretty harmless. If I ever walk past one I always have an urge to roll it over on its back like a beetle.

All Saab drivers (any model) seem keen on tailgating.

Then there's the Mazda Bongo Friendee (for heaven's sake!). I've never seen one do anything particularly numptyish, perhaps because there are so few of them about, but they are all, without exception, driven by weirdos. Not just slightly eccentric people, but full-on, seriously and irredeemably weird people.

That's because they've moved up from Vectras and are in training to have a BMW

Anyone read the Sniff Petrol thing about how everyone was so confused about the Saab model range that Saab were going to simplify to two models, a cabrio and a saloon, named after their respective target audience: the "Drug Dealer" and the "Dentist"?

:P

You've got it all completely wrong, folks.

The cars to look out for are obscure brands like Diahatsu, Suzuki and Ssangyong ie. the current franchise of the former Austin Rover dealer near you that the faithful old biddies have been going back to every three years on the nose since dot to pay full-list price to buy from that salesman that's always been so nice and honest to them (you know, the one that only charged £50 extra for a set of rubber mats when they should have been £70).

For a while we had a load of old bints driving around in Subaru Imprezzas when a long term established garage lost its Peugeot (formerly Talbot, formerly Chrysler, formerly Hillman) dealership and switched.....
