I was directed to this website from a forum I use.

Absolutely NOT a good idea.

The drivers that will be named and shamed, will more than likely be named and shamed by the worst drivers who think they are the best drivers.
Just because we have the technology to do this sort of thing, doesn't mean we have to use it.
And, there Will be malicious abuse of the system, I can guarantee that.

I could name and shame dozens of drivers a week, those who cut in front of me in my fully laden truck taking the braking space that I had allowed for, but, it will lead to me being reported for tailgating.
And thats just one example.

On reading the first 11 pages, I have noticed 2 posters who seem to be spending more time watching for others faults, I wonder what their faults are?

Seaman, would appear to be in possesion of a speed measuring device, and probably uses it whilst driving.

Speed camera, would definately appear to be spending more time using his/her mobile phone camera whilst driving, than paying attention to their own driving, I would definately report this clown to the police for dangerous driving.

From their FAQ...

Quote:
What if a number plate registration changes ownership?

BetterDrivingPlease.com users reports are incident reports, in other words 'what happened at that moment in time'. When a number plate changes ownership the new owners can use BetterDrivingPlease.com to research any history, in the same way that car buyers pay for checks for accident / outstanding credit history. History upon BetterDrivingPlease.com is likely to add to information available to buyers which has never before been capable of being accessed. New owners can login and add comment upon their number plate if they wish to update.

Ah, so it's a service to future car buyers, to see if their prospective purchase has, at some point in its past, been alleged to have been driven by someone who may or may not have been behaving like an numpty according to the opinion, educated or otherwise, of some anonymous internet poster. And how, exactly, is this useful? I can't quite imagine a future where car buyers run from used car lots, screaming "oh my god, I was about to buy a car that might have been driven by someone who might have been a bit of a numpty, I'm so pleased I checked the reg on BetterDrivingPlease first, what a nightmare purchase that would have been". Naah, I don't think the likes of HPI have anything to worry about, do you

What a crappy 'site. I did a check on my own car reg. - pleased to see I'm in the clear!

One of the complaints I saw was "car overtook me at speed while I was cruising at NSL". I stopped looking after that. Still, it would be a good place for all of us to report speeding or illegally parked police cars/scamera vans!
