Whilst I am fully aware that my little corner of the UK got away fairly lightly on Friday, I would like to share the following tale.
It took me 2 hours to make what should have been a 40 minute journey. I was hindered by a couple of road closures, but there was a fairly easy route round those...
My biggest problem was that I found out that my car isn't aquatic...

What I THINK happened was either the stop solenoid or maybe the lift pump shorted out, so once I'd pushed it back out of the water it would start but it wouldn't rev. I sat for a couple of minutes with it ticking over and all was well again.
The 'helpful' bit was a nice man in an old shape landy who, after watching me push the car out of the flood ON MY OWN decided that it would be constructive to stop next to me and point out that I would drain my battery if I kept cranking the engine whilst I had the lights on. The car was running at this point...
Never mind...
