 I hope I'm wrong but it's looks as if former WRC Champion Colin McRae has been killed in helicopter crash near his home in Lanark.

It is confirmed. His son too (and another dad with his child).

Truly tragic.

Desperately sad, and a sad loss to the sport.

Many condolences to his wife and family, and to that of the other man.

A sad loss to the world of motorsport and a tragedy for the families involved.
Colin's dad, Jimmy, is an old friend of mine from way back when we were in the same rally team and a nicer, more genuine guy you could not hope to meet. I didn't know Colin, but I'm told he was just like his dad.
My thoughts, and I think the thoughts of many, are with the McRea clan and the familiies of the others so sadly killed.

I heard about this yesterday while listening to MotoGP. Valentino Rossi was a good friend of his after racing with him in a few rallies. Rossi did the only thing he could as a tribute and won the race.

We seem to lose too many motorsport personalities in helicopters.

My condolences to all affected.
