This may have been mentioned before, but a colleague told me of an elctrician he employed who lived near Wrexham and while on holiday in Devon, had his car stolen, with SatNav in it. On returning home in a hire car, the house had been cleaned out.

Various people have been suggesting not putting a too accurate Home Address in the unit, or even putting the address of the local nick!

Also have heard of cars being broken into in airport car parks and empty homes being discovered by the same method.

Regards

Don't leave valuables in the car was advice I always considered to be good. SatNav would constitute a valuable.

Another worring thing I heard was that your vin no in the front window of new cars allows them to order the correct key and drive your car away.
This might explain how my sisters new landrover walked from the long stay at birmingham airport...

Put a bit of sticky tape over your front vin. !!!

Excellent advice, provided the satnav isn't an integrated part of the car electronics...

I had to get a new key for my Saab 9000 and the local Saab dealer wanted to se the V5 Document and ID before they would order one for me.

They sometimes produce a false V5, sometimes they don't need to.
If you are steeling a £17k landrover then its worth inversting in a false log book...

Perhaps then the punishment doesn't fit the crime - not a great fan of Eastern
Laws and Justice - but perhaps if the punishment was eating their kebab with the hand they wiped their ass with (first offence ) and having no hands (second offence ) then our scrotes might be inclined to stop thieving ( always supposing we had the police force (composed of officers ) to catch the offenders)
