I've been wondering this for a while, and given the many threads about obviously stupid policies they're cooking up, it seems like a good idea to post it.

Basically we know they've made a right mess of the economy, borrowed loads of money that is going to have to be paid back, and it doesn't help that the Americans have managed to screw up the world economy and the Chinese and Indians are screwing up oil prices.

Basically there's a recession on the way, anyone with half a brain can see that coming, everyone else is just going to blame whichever government happens to be in charge when the recession starts affecting them.

So what better long term plan than to set things up so that the Tories win this time and carry the can for the last 10 years of mismanagement by Labour (plus the worldwide antics), the next election will roll around just in time for things to start getting better and Labour can be in charge when the economy is happy again.

Am I just turning into a conspiracy theorist nut-job, or does this seem plausible?

It sounds plausible enough and quite shrewd, but it seems to me the supreme arrogance of politicians makes them think they're invincible and can weather anything.

Would not surprise me either way , history will show Labours habbit in messing everything up, getting ousted and leaving big problems for another lot to sort out and I feel this Labour lot are keeping up with tradition.

I've often used the phrase "never confuse incompetence with conspiracy".

I think Labour will lose the election through incompetence than by choice. Sadly, though, even though they have come on leaps and bounds under Cameron, I worry that the conservatives will not be much better?

The version I heard was "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by incompetence".

Unfortunately I don't think Labour's current antics can be adequately explained by incompetence, they're either all stark raving bonkers or they're trying to throw the election.

That said, I hope my area has a Monster Raving Loony candidate this year, but that party is probably afraid to campaign in my area as they'd probably get in. (Former Labour area, now "no overall control")

No, if you actually look at an MRLP manifesto, their policies make more sense

(I'm not kidding either, a lot of their old ones have actually been implemented many years later)
