It is refreshing to see the feelings of the true majority for once, expressing their disgust at being used as a cash cow for every little PC pet project that this Government thinks up. all I can say is 'if you want tram systems and the rest of the rubbish then the users can pay for it not motorists'. Here's the results:

61.8% turnout

45,965 in favour (25%)
133,678 against (75%)

Alan Werninck was obviously smiling down upon the good people of Edinburgh today.

For those of you who don't know, Dr. Alan was the ABD member who did a tireless amount of work campaigning against the Edinburgh Congestion Charge. Sadly he did not live to see the fruits of his work, but the voters did him proud.

May he rest in peace!
