And what do you get - absolutely nothing

PLEASE NOTE:
You are bidding on absolutely nothing. If you win you will receive nothing whatsoever.

Me and a friend have a bet.
He said, “There is nothing that won’t sell on ebay.”
I said, “Nothing wouldn’t sell.”
“That is what I just said.”, he replied.
“No”, I said, “If you put nothing on sale, no one will buy it. Who would buy nothing”
So to prove that you can’t sell nothing that is what I am selling, Absolutely Nothing.

I am expecting to win the bet and for this auction to finish with no buyers.

Last line --
"Please don't complain if you win this auction and receive absolutely nothing. That is exactly what you are bidding on. You have been warned!!"
And someone has bid -£1

If I win and Absolutely Nothing does not sell I will get £50 from him. If he wins and Absolutely Nothing does sell, he will get all the proceeds from the sale plus the same amount from me. For example, if it sells for £20 he will receive that £20 plus another £20 from me.



Now the point to ponder - according to an article in the Sun there's an auction on Ebay for Iceland ( though I can't find it ) ---is the above more valuable at the moment

Nothing ... Oh No ...Put another way, if no one bids, you get £50 from him.
If, however, he can figure out how to bid on this auction for £1 without your knowledge, he will net £1, from you.

My first thought is that the person who wrote "I am expecting to win the bet" probably realized that, by saying so, he guaranteed that he would lose.
My 2nd thought is that the person who wrote "I am expecting to win the bet" having realized the above, then expected at least one buyer.
My 3rd thought is that this person is in fact the person who bet that Absolutely Nothing, would, in fact sell, possibly in the first place.
My 4th thought is that this person is wondering why he told anyone else; if he'd kept it a secret, he could've netted £1 from everyone he knows that wasn't privy to the ploy.
