strange query but i'm sure someone round here knows.

we have a few peltor helmets here at work which once upon a time we needed for some of the testing we did.
the risk assessment looks like we're going to need them again at some point.

question is .. do they have an official useful life ?
if so where can i find what it is and if it has expired for these ?

these are open face 'rally pro' helmest to BS 84243.

I read recently that arai do not give an expiry time on helmets. This is down to the fact that they degrade due to use, uv exposure, sweat and other contaminants. A rule of thumb is if it no longer fits properly it should be replaced. Some claimed to have had helmets that are 10 or more years old tested and they were still up to the job.
