The women's 800m gold medallist at the World Athletics Championships is facing claims she is really a man.
South African Caster Semenya, 18, obliterated the field in last night's final in Berlin, where Britain's Jenny Meadows finished third.
But her muscular physique - as well as a series of quick times - sparked a whispering campaign and athletics chiefs have now demanded she take a gender test.
Her coach Michael Seme furiously denied the suggestion and said: "Her roommates in Berlin have seen her naked in the showers. She has nothing to hide."
But a source said: "She put in an astoundingly fast performance three weeks ago which prompted suspicions over gender.
"Experts were concerned over the way she runs and wanted her tested."

I just heard someone comment on radio that the athlete should have been offered a SAC (Sex Awareness
) course as her speed ist obviously dangerous....
But then ....
what if you are an athlete "trapped in a man's body" but still retain male strengths? I think Olympics will now introduce a "politically correct category" before long....dependent on point of view ..
