That's very interesting.

Earlier tonight I posted on the CSCP website and made some estimations regarding what effect the distraction of speed cameras might have on accidents. The contents of this report summary slot in quite nicely with what I was saying.

JT,

i was thinking about speed cameras when i saw the report brief, i wonder if they had the balls to say in the report that they are a useful distraction?

Just what was going through my mind! What about the distraction of looking for talivans and checking your speedo more frequently than you otherwise would have done due to their non-adherence of the ACPO guidelines? Pity there is no forum to comment on this site to stir things up!

Godfrey h,

what i've observed happening at camera sites is some are taken by surprise and slam the anchors on and rightfully so to avoid penalties but some drivers are to busy either staring at the camera or their speedo and don't notice the car in front rapidly slowing down, when you mix these situations up into a steady flow of traffic it is a recipe for disaster.

There is a forum, it's called the Police Authority, U have the right to attend and to ask said question. Or to write and ask a councellor /other member about the subject.. they should ask the chief constable to look into it..

go for it.. let us all know how u get on..

Bill

(to find them look for the police authority web site. maybe a link from the police web site.. )
