Some posters might know that the local County Council Highway engineers like to know about the activities of contractors. The CC employs these idiots and gets the blame for their traffic controls - but some like to get feed back from us to stop unsafe practices. EG - a year or more ago i got to j3 of the m6 to find a funny cone system in use - it appeared that 3+ lanes of down ramp were being merged into 1 about 100 yards from the motorway( a visual effect) - going from 60-70 on m6 to 5 mph in little / no time = accident waiting to happen . I contacted WCC highways, about 2 hours later they replied " thanks sir, we agree a nasty could have occurred, we've insisted that coning is re done.We rely on motorists passing on info"
So if you find the activities of the braindead coners funny, ask your local County Highways to check.
