This started some months ago now :x

I record programs I like using my Thomson digi-box and notice that aliens are suddenly able to shove programs in between my dated, chronologically ordered, recordings and it's really :censored: me off!

Don’t judge me on the recordings

How is this possible, legal etc.? Is it just because they’re only butting-in for a few days? How and why are they allowed to do this?

How would you like it if I said "I’m going to travel back in time to be in your bedroom for a few days but then I will expire so it's okay?"

Er, NO!!! I didn't ask for it/you/them and what, how and why are you here?!!!!

Look! Days left, 6 or 5 or whatever - it shouldn't be there! :hoppingmad: They have interrupted time!

Image

Actually that's not the best example.. I am having some 'advert thing' inserted in between the programs I recorded on a regular basis now and I think it's wrong! Someone help me out here, am I going mad? See the "Days left" thing? It shouldn't be there! Again, they inserted it in-between my recorded programs :x

Oh, sorry ed_m - I will get around to watching the Tour de France as soon as I can

I do not get this with either the Topfield or Humax, neither of them are connected to a telephone line or have topup tv.

Is this regional specific? You mention TopUp toltec. I don't know what's going on.... :?

I only know I switch on the freeview when I come back after a long day and ready to blow my brains out if I could only find a hoody who would sell me a fire arm reclaimed from an amnesty deal from a corrupt copper :D

But I can't because I have to look at how great the 'TopUp' is and what topup have to o££er!!!

I have to press the 'OK' button before I CAN EVEN LOOK AT MY :censored: PROGRAMS!!!

How fair is that on old folk? :x

Is your pvr supplied by Top Up TV? I know the make they do are Thomson ones. The web site is not very helpful, but what you are getting may be due to settings in the TV favourites section.

If you select Own Recordings don't the others disappear?

Ah yes ..... don't worry .... it's only the Galactic Council trying to contact you, The idea is this ... you record and watch the programs they insert in your list over and over until you manage to work out the coded message contained in them, once you've done that they give you a free tour round the universe and a shot of their "we thought it was impossible but it can't be cos somehow it works but we've no idea why" integalactic super drive ... and a completely free brain implant ...... simples :bighand:

I wonder if this has something to do with teletext which is ending ?
Teletext is to end on December 14th and 15th according to P139 on Teletext,
Dec 14th - Teletext on ITV and C4 on Sky will cease on this day
Dec 15th - Teletext on ITV, C4 and Five analogue and Digital will cease, as well as it's Editorial service thing on Freesat.

OT -toltec, but if you've had problems on Humax( and you'd be in minority if not ) -
From Humax

"At the moment a problem has occurred in regards to the nations retune with our boxes. Some of the faults are that the boxes are locking up, delayed remote response and EPG/Guide problems. We have got engineers working on the matter at the moment to resolve this as quickly as possible.

What we are doing is releasing an over the air software update that will download automatically over night to the boxes. The PVR 9300 update was re-released today and should download automatically tonight. The 9150 should be repeating later this week or next week. The 9200 hasn’t been confirmed as yet but we expect it to be within a couple of weeks. If the problems persist after this, please contact us on 0844 669 8800"
Still waiting to hear when the updates go out .

It is an old 8000T and recently the remote has almost stopped working so you may have found the cause. Humax do not appear to offer any support for this model any longer, nice of them. It is the backup set anyway, just in case there are three things on at once so using it with the front panel buttons is not such a problem.

OK- Pal( and not the TV system :D ) - there's been a lot of ho ha on the net about Humax problems .Me - like the box ,but feel a lot of problems are down to failure to realise that loss of sugnal can lead to loss of sync (unless a clock backup is in place) ,and in that case ,the ON/OFF switch is the last resort .

Not a solution but others are obviously having some bother ...
I assume that you have tried to contact the manufacturers or/and the suppliers ?

UK based help might come from these chaps :

Another thought that occurs to me (if there is nothing about it in the manual - that booklet that nearly all men seem to ignore as fire-paper and no point looking at ! ;) ) is that this is deliberate and part of the adverts terms and conditions, they are broadcast as part of the download of the program ...an idea anyway. A kind of enforced viewing to ensure they retain commercial support. If they are ads of course !
Did you try Toltec's idea and check the settings ? (I would assume so but you haven't said?)
I can understand how frustrating this is too !

I know nohting about guns but how about one of these ! here from that wonderful 'I want one of those' people !

But there is a nasty sting in the tail here, and many might feel as though they have been ripped off. In reality all you actually are getting is On Demand, the channels as such don't really exist. UK TV Gold and Eurosport both offer limited channel viewing between 6-10 hours a day, but the other channels on offer are not available as such. Basically space on Freeview is limited, as a result when certain channels close for the night Top Up TV uses their signal to send programmes to your Hard Drive, these programmes are apparently the best the channel has to offer. This really is a hollow gift although Picture Box does what it claims to do fair and square so to speak, to think you're getting a channel but in reality getting as little as 0 programmes from this channel in a 24 hour period can be annoying. ***Last night 11 features recorded to my box, and only 1 was something I might debate watching.*** The reason why only 11 shows came down was because Dr Zchivago (with a runtime of over 3 hours) stored to the Freeview box (downloads only seem to come down between 12am and 6am). The next big catch is that if you are recording shows yourself during the night, you might not get any On Demand services at all, because only 2 programmes at a time can be recorded.

Ta Claire. :) If it gets to screaming pitch I'll delve deeper but for now I 'select' and 'delete' as-and-when they butt-in.

TBH on a point of principle I haven’t tried to play them but I'm sure it’s a new way of advertising I neither asked for nor want, like the million flyers I get through my letter box every day :x

I assume they would disappear if I left them to run their course but my personality doesn’t like the untidiness of it either, just like the flyers. :x In ten years they’ll start breaking into your home just to put an A3 size flyer under your duvet Pete’s Perfect Pizzas

I've looked at the settings and can’t see anything. Whatever the settings are I’ve never changed them so it’s like I say, ‘they’ have suddenly started to access my recorded list to insert their e-junk mail.

Love the gun BTW. I want one :P

Tone -an idea-do you use the "whole series " record facility .We sometimes do now,and Mrs has just mentioned that we've had odd recordings crop up - nothing we'd normally record .She's blaming me ,and I've said it's her -so mentioned your post to her -and sort of rings a bell .
For the Humax sufferers -someone has suggested a cure for the EPG sloath and lockups -delete the channels manually ,and re install manually -almost at the stage of trying it -three lockups over the holidays  .Googled Sutton Coldfield freeview and got the channels -that's all I need to retune .
