56 years after it was decided it was needed, the Bedford Bypass is nearing completion. The last single carriageway length of it.We have the most photogenic mayor though, always being photographed doing nothing

Don't panic yet.

1. The calibration problems of using a flying drone would be insurmountable unless there was a human operator.

2. The ability to automatically read numberplates would again be extremely hard.

In other words, they would require real policemen on the ground as back up.

I was more worried that they may be equipped with air-to-ground attack systems....

Will the drone be able to first make a considered opinion that a vehicle may be exceeding the limit before confirming its opinion by using technological means?

Just how much money are the Government prepared to spend to nick a few motorists?
