This recent BBC reports talking about air pollution (mainly PM) is more or less totally focused on cars and the effects of them?

If Im correct the main causes of PM are firstly Power plants (which account to 75%), after that the main causes are buses, trains, planes, lorries and eventually diesel cars.

Unleaded Cars account to about 5% or less of PM but with the ever improving fuel economy this is coming down.

Note how the BBC cover themselves by saying "transport and the use of fossil fuels in homes are the major contributors to air pollution".

The word 'transport' gives out the false impression (the picture of the cars doesnt help) that cars are the worse culprits.
They arent, infact they are the least.

Yes cars account to some PM but Im rather inclined to say that there are far bigger fish to fry first without this constant agenda against cars.

Link helps

:gatso2: I hope this won't mean the end of motorsport. :grumpy: I approve of all resource-wasting competitive sports  ...and F1!

Common Sense said "Yes cars account to some PM but Im rather inclined to say that there are far bigger fish to fry first without this constant agenda against cars."

At this time of the political agenda, would this be thecurrent labour member for a North East constituency giving out yet more air pollution

Vehicles cause pollution not just by their own emissions but also by the extra emissions of all the other vehicles they are delaying by their congestion.

For that reason, a big lorry going around collecting recycling bins holding up everyone because they are going down narrow streets and stopping all the time is causing far too much pollution, probably more than they save with their "recycling".
