For those of you who know Orwell's book 1984, you might notice some disturbing similarities between the character Emmanuel Goldstein and our 'war on terror' enemy Al Qaeda.

When I made this google search, I soon learned that others have been disturbed by the parallel.

Coincidence? Probably. Scary? I should say so.

Well Nostradamus made a whole cart-load of predicitions some of which show striking similarities with events that have come to pass.
Co-incidence is my guess, it's like your horoscope isn't it? You could fit just about anything in your life to the vague meanderings printed in the morning paper

Thinking about this some more, I think we have to consider four questions:

1) Did 'our side' create Al Qaeda? (no, of course not)
2) Does 'our side' derive a (Goldstein style) benefit from the Al Qaeda threat? (yes, I'm sure they do)
3) Does our side's spin machine seek to maximize their Al Qaeda benefit? (yes, they simply can't help themselves)
4) Who is setting the limits for the spin doctors?

Osama Bin Laden is who he is. Who he has become in terms of worldwide perception is as much a product of media attention, speculation and government fuelled propaganda.

Try and find traces of business dealings with the Bin Laden family and UK/US organisations and you will struggle, yet plenty of them existed.

I was censored (several times) for mentioning a link between Bin Laden construction and the Williams F1 team in the 1980's (one of their cars actually carried sponsorship logos from Baroom BinLaden) in the ITV-F1 website forum a couple of years back, despite the fact that the site itself carried an article which mentioned these dealings (since deleted!).

The father of Al Qaeda, Sayyid Qutb, formed many of his ideas while living in America and experiencing racism first-hand. In social affairs, as well as physics, every action has an equal and opposite reaction, so we sort of did create Al Qaeda, albeit unintentionally.



The Guardian and the Independent are trying, and perhaps the BBC to a lesser extent. The idea of spin doctors is a very simple one - control through fear and greed! Terrorism is murky and dark, which helps to manipulate us through fear. It’s counterpart is consumerism, which helps to manipulate us through greed!

It may not be a clever conspiracy - it could just be the blind leading the blind?
