Maybe it should be a sticky thread/title?

I heard the news at the time and was very saddened, but with so much going on in my personal life right now I want to take time out for someone whom I was very sad to hear died as I woke up the other day and heard that Gary Moore has past away :(

I always remember the great duet he did with Phil Lynott which was so long ago and yet I remember it as though it was yesterday.

May you rest in peace Gary and thank you for the memories and superb guitar playing.

I am going to watch and re-live you and Phil now, when you were in your prime.

Thanks for the music and memories...

Yes, very sad, a great guitarist. I saw him play live with Colosseum in Chester in about 1976, which dates me :(

There seems to have been something of a spate of untimely rock/pop deaths over the past few months - Gerry Rafferty, Woolly Wolstenholme of Barclay James Harvest (who sadly took his own life), Captain Beefheart, Mick Karn of Japan, Teena Marie...

Yes Peter :( But lucky you to have seen him hey? :)

Maybe we are of a similar age, but I don't like where we are all heading.

I don't expect to be where it is all heading but I weep for what is to come and for the people who will be there. Getting too deep now and time to sign off I think.

Call me daft but every year people who have had an impact on us die, especially at my age, and I just wanted to recogise and respect the passing of yet another one from my past who did a great job; master of his craft.

I won't mention names but I think 2011 will see some more greats from my past depart who don't have the best of health and age is not on their side. I include actors as well as musicians...

Yes, I too have seen Colosseum live years ago. They were really good. Sigh. I had hair then.

I'm quite amazed that a lot of these guys are still alive due to all the drink and drugs they took. Perhaps they are not as dangerous as made out.

Yes, how Keith Richards is still going is beyond me. He even looks like the walking dead and Iggy Pop really does seem to have a lust for life.

There was a recent BBC4 programme called Forever Young – How Rock'n'Roll Grew Old which included, amongst others, an interview with Iggy Pop. He still seems entirely compos mentis and said how he was now enjoying all of the things he'd dreamed of in the past – money in the bank, big house by the sea, beautiful girlfriend, flash convertible car etc. Some old rockers like Ozzy Osbourne do seem to have lost a few marbles along the way but others (such as his bandmate Tony Iommi) are impressively articulate.

I saw that interview Peter and thought what a lovely guy he is. :) First time I'd ever seen him interviewed and he seemed so grounded. The only problem he had was the ultra loud music over the years has sent him stone deaf, but he was very matter-of-fact about it.

It is sad when those who enter our lives and have a profound influence upon it, then exit and often unexpectedly.
May he rest in peace ...

Peter green Fleetood mac, Man of the world ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=POWXUCvAPFA A very telling song), now a cabbage. Hendrix, joplin, Lynet, Cobain, brian jones, to name but a few. I think acid caused george harrissons early demise too.

Hmm, there was also a documentary about Peter Green on BBC4 last Friday and, while his brain is obviously not quite 100%, he talked quite articulately and has been touring with his band for the past decade.

Sorry if this is a digression.

I don't think it is really, since Rest In Peace is not about people who have just left us, although I admit that was why I started the thread.

They are with us until we pass on and I'm sure we will pass on the life and infulence they have had on us to the next generation...

If you are of a certain age, or just appreciate talent, this is one of the most beautiflul marriages of comedy and classic music, from the late and great Les Dawson and John Williams. :)

I saw John back in circa 82 perfoming with Sky at The Odeon in Birmingham City Centre and and for Les? What a sad loss and great talent!

Enjoy, or ignore, as you wish...

I'm sad to see you go Elizabeth Taylor. :(

You were talented, beautiful and compassionate. If anyone deserves to be regarded as American Royalty you are surely one - and I think my mum would agree...

I recall an interview I saw long ago where she was asked about her relationship with Richard Burton and how she felt about him. (I think it was on a Michael Parkinson show???).

I can't remember, verbatim, how it went now. But I do remember her poignant reply where she said in answer to a question something like "You must miss Richard terribly, do you wish you were with him?" To which she said "I will be with him again someday".

It was clear from her face that this was not 'an act' and that it came from the heart.

The audience went quiet for a second or so before applauding..

I'm sorry I can't be more exact and if someone can link to that interview I'd be very grateful. I know I have the sentiment correct though and we have lost yet another Hollywood/American great...
