Here's an interesting case of a motorist who failed to give his car an "Italian tuneup":

Motorist is told his £45,000 Jaguar keeps breaking down because he is not driving FAST enough

No doubt this will cause a few BRAKE campaigners to choke on their cornflakes :P

Watchdog were bleating about this on the telly the other night. If he'd bothered to read his handbook, he'd have known5 what to do. The way the media hype it up, you'd think he needed to take it on a bleedin' track day once a month! All they need is about 15-20 minutes at 1500 - 2000 RPM. Hardly the sort of speed that even BRAKE would whinge about!

As with a lot of things, this is a nice bit of "Eurocracy" dumped on the car manufacturers before they were really market-ready. I'm sure the problems will get ironed out in the next year or two. In the meantime, try and steer clear of "Euro 5" diesels with particulate filters for a couple of years if you're not going to be doing the sort of motoring that they can put up with. I've got a DPF on my car but as it does a 150 mile motorway trip at least once a week, I've never had a minute's bother with it.

It's not peculiar to the Jag, it's a problem for many Euro 5 diesels. He'd probably have to look more seriously at whether or not he even needs a car at all - let alone a Jag, for the sort of running he's doing!
