Attacks on speed cameras

A SPEED camera has been torched.

The camera, in The Avenue, March, was set alight shortly after 10pm yesterday (Sunday, 06 August) with firefighters on the scene by 10.30pm.

The fire was out by 10.45pm.

The incident follows an attack on a controversial new camera on Friday.

A tyre was hung round the camera, on the eastbound carriageway of the A14 just past the junction with the A11 near Swaffham Bulbeck, and set alight.

Emergency services have criticised the camera for causing more crashes in the area - caused by motorists suddenly slowing down when they see it.

Well it is "open season"... Aledgedly.

It took the fire fighters 15 minutes to put the fire out once they had arrived? Is that normal or did they spend 10 minutes waiting to make sure it had cooked fully first?

If you go to the page there's an online poll.

Do you think Captain Gatso's campaign to wreck speed cameras is misguided?

Yes 53%
No 47%
