Hi all,

I live in Inverclyde in Scotland and the scamera partnership have erected 3 "safety" (as they are now called") cameras within the area in the last year (nearly causing me to have an accident). What I would like to do is probe the partnership to see if the "zones" did indeed comply with the necessary guidlines of which I'am unsure. Can anyone help with:

(1) The partnership or body that I write to ?, I think it may be Strathclyde scam though Inverclyde has their own little cosy safety initiative.

(2) Who I actually address (F.A.O.) ?

(3) What do I ask them for and can I request evidence of the data I ask for ?

(4) Is the law in Scotland pertaining to speed camera siting etc. different than in England?

Regards

Andrew

Inverclyde is part of the Strathclyde scheme. See http://www.camerascutcrashes.com/default.htm for details. The project manager is Gladys Cadden.

As far as your questions are concerned I would ask for the KSI stats used to justify the camera placement. Mention the specific locations of the cameras you are interested in. You might want to find out how far back the accident history goes so you can find out whether or not these sites will turn out to be prime regression to mean benefit illusion sites.

HTH,

that's funny I've actually had e-mail correspondance with her a while back, maybe I'll try again and ask about the statistics but you know how it is-you ask for statistics and they tell you how good the cameras are I.E. 35%reduction in KSI.

In that case all I can suggest is "if at first you don't succeed, try, try, try again!"
