I'm a new member so hello to everyone.

Hope you don't mind me posting this but I noticed it in the Sun Newspaper on Saturday. I would scan it but don't know if I can attach to topic's. This is how it reads:

"A CCTV camera set up to slash violent crime will rake in one million a year for council cheifs by targeting motorists.

The camera at a junction in Hampstead, North London, was put up after a string of muggings.

But Camden County Council has used it to record motorists making illegal right-hand turns - fining them £100 a time.

The camera has caught 2,778 in three months. Just 19 crimes have been recorded. Newsagent Pravin Malviya said: "it's there to make money""

I don't know how long this junction has been a no right turn but obviously they don't get money from the mugging of people, so the Council's mugging the motorist instead.

hi Dixie and a warm welcome.

Was also in the "Express" and no dn't agree with it - without some warning that they are on camera and will be consequences for being caught this way. Point is to deter the behaviour and just fining after the event .. just creates more ill feelings.

Ha Ha!! Why bother? Why not just keep raking in the cash! You can fund a lot of councillors fact finding trips with money like that... or am I just being TOO cynical?
