Hi all,

despite all the info here and other related articles, the public, in general, still believe that cameras are a benefit to road safety and I think will believe so for the near future. This isn't what I want to think it is what I observe in the general driving domain. This is a style of thinking that needs to change as we all know the "speed kills" tirade has been firmly entwined in the thinking of the general culture now, not just motorists but the local councillors looking to score political points with a blanket 20MPH limit in urban areas that has had no effect whatsoever.

What I observed tonight was quite eye opening, my taxi to and from my destination was cruising around 40MPH in a 40 to 30 "zone" (not built up) continually correcting his speed by looking at the speedo-accelerating-looking at speedo-brakes etc. for the whole journey to the end of the main road where new "safety cameras have been installed !

To be honest it will be a hard fight convincing the public that these boxes are utterly useless as the whole country still seems "hooked" on the "slow us all down and save a life" tirade.

it's going to be a long battle !

Andrew
