Ten dead in road crashes
Ten people died in two separate road accidents.
Six were killed in a head-on collision involving two vehicles in Hampshire, and four young people died when their car hit a wall in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire, west Wales.
In the worst of the crashes, a silver Peugeot 106 car carrying five young men was in collision at 11.30pm on Wednesday with a green Ford Focus close to the Chequers Inn on the A31 at Ropley, near Winchester, Hants.
All the occupants of the Peugeot, all thought to be aged in their late teens or early 20s, were killed, and a middle-aged man in the Ford also died.
The teenage son of the driver of the Ford survived the accident suffering two broken fingers. The 18-year-old was recovering at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester.
The deaths come as three men and a woman, aged between 16 and 20, died in another accident on the A474 in Ammanford, Carmarthenshire, west Wales at 10.02pm on Wednesday.
In the Hampshire accident, both cars were severely damaged in the collision, which is believed to have been at high speed.
Inspector Tony Browne from Hampshire Police said: "Six of the seven occupants of these cars have tragically died, with one person in hospital."
He said another driver who witnessed the crash was first on the scene, followed closely by the local beat officer.
The crash site is in an isolated country location surrounded by farmland with houses several hundred yards away.
So sad. Does anyone know any more about these tragedies?
