counsellors saying things like "stupid limit", "limit too low" and "money making area" - are they now going to be kind to furry primates?

But they do like their furry animals in Hartlepool - they voted H'Angus for Mayor after all!

Funny how common sense only seems to prevail once a counciller has been mugged.

H'Angus the Monkey was voted to be Mayor or Hartlepool.

Apparently the local residents hanged a monkey back in the Napoleonic wars believing it to be a french spy (hence the name), and it is now the football team mascot.

:rotfl: I'd heard the Napoleonic monkey lynching story off a couple of Newcastle blokes I worked with years ago, but the football mascot is news to me. And electing him Mayor. A whole town with a  sense of humour!

They've got to have one with a story like that - the humourous retort that they give when asked about this incident shows that - " Actualy there were two - we sent the other one south of the river to breed"
