My last Bulldog was 92 (the year that a burger van went up quite spectacularly thanks to a couple of large gas bottles being inside when it caught fire).
We paid £15 each to get in (which was reasonable), and had no problems bringing in 3 crates of beer (which was strapped to the tank) as well as the numerous bottles of vodka & whisky that we also had.
Spent the rest of the friday getting absolutley wasted, and ended up meeting 2 very accomodating young ladies who accompanied us back to our tent.
Woke up at 7.30am Saturday morning to find it pissing down with rain (nothing unusual for the Bulldog), upset the guys in the tent next to us by starting the bike up, and then proceeded to ride to the food marquee in order to get breakfast.
We then watched as the Jet lorry attempted to dry the strip out, and when this was complete, racing commeneced.
Had to go through "scrutineering" (both bike & rider) before being allowed to race......the bike passed, I failed (primarily I suspect due to the large quantity of alcohol & cannabis I had ingested).
Went back to the tent, promptly had a quick chat with a personal friend of mine called Charles who helped greatly in altering my ability to stand upright, went back to scrutineering 30 minutes later, and passed
Had quite a few runs up the strip in the afternoon, best time returned was 9.05 @ 152mph. Knocked the racing on the head when somebody pointed out that I had no tread left on the brand new Avon that had only been fitted 2 days before.
Saturday night we settled down for a bit of the "wet T shirt" competition, and the very nice young ladies that had spent the weekend with us put on a stage show for the crowd which involved making beer bottles disappear without using their hands in order that they could win the £100 bonus that had been offered.
Woke up Sunday morning and packed everything up, said goodbye to the girls (whose names we eventually found out to be Sue & Lyn), and rode back home.
All in all it was a bloody good weekend, but alas the Bulldog has gotten far too commercial these days to really have a good time.
