I mentioned in another thread I had just picked up a second hand DriveCam (
www.drivecam.com), I got a bargain, normally they are $1000 plus $170 for the software licence, mine cost $350 *and* the current owner bought a software licence to go with it. Got it in the post this week, very nice neat thing:

...so I finally installed the software after getting an unlock code and figuring out how it all works, you have to have it powered up to 12V to connect to the computer and thw computer doing the download must be running the software, bit of a pain that, although for fleets they can have a remote download server and viewing clients. I will have to see if there is a way to bypass all that crap, all I want is a piece of simple software to download the events.
Anyway, I hook it up and the light goes red, then flashes a lot, I thought it was because I bumped it on the table and it was logging an event, but then a LOAD of events appear in the "Inbox", it seems that the previous owner who used it never had a licence and never downloaded the events! Unfortunately there was nothing really interesting, just people triggering the device to show to friends in the car and it being activated by sharp turns and bumps in the road:

The only "crash" event was when some water hit the windscreen on a flooded road, pretty cool though:

It is 4fps, the stills are a good indication of the actual frame-by-frame quality.
