So reads the Front Page of the "Bolton" paper tonight.

Apparently one car per night is torched in this market town - each costing £5100 to deal with (not including insurance and costs to car owners)

The torched cars have all bee reported stolen.

(.. not so long ago Bolton was bragging about crime being down in the area... hmmmmm!)

This cost of £5100 includes damage to street furniture, surfaces and cost of fire crews and police services.

Police advice? Lock up car, fit with anti-theft devices and keep all valuables out of sight...

Er ... how about a couple of just cruising around the known hotbeds of crime... and doing some sleuthing....as well ..

When there is a spate of crimes with the same MO like this, it is quite often the same group of people that's carrying them out. It needs the attention of CID.

In the US, they use "bait cars" to catch these people. Is this tactic used in the UK at all?
