Per two editions of the Bolton Paper this week

Drivers’ Revenge

(Jane Lavender and Gareth Tidman (Tues/Wed)

Quote:
Angry motorists in Bolton blocked a clamper’s car after a row over clamping. The woman clamper clamped three cars in Churchgate area of the town despite all displaying correct permits totalling £1800. :hissyfit:

On being told they would have to pay £80 to have the clamps removed – the livid :furious: :censored: :banghead: :hissyfit: MD of a Churchgate firm blocked the clamper in a bay so that she would know what it felt like to be unable to drive home when no crime had been committed.

Moreover  – he claims the action cost his business money.

The company says the permits were displayed incorrectly – but all three claim the permits were facing the correct way on the dash.

Later that evening the three motorists had an anonymous call telling them the clamps had been removed. :D :D The drivers thought the company had regained "common sense"...

but no "Tis the local caped crusader - the winged "AngelGrinding Man  " who worked "miracles with the clamps

Quote:
National Clamping claim this was “illegal” and they would be reporting this to the police

The firm claim they have “photographic eveidence showing the permits were not displayed next to the tax disc which rendered the permit invalid” ..

Digital camera :scratchchin: So how come this was not shown to the livid MD and the other office worker in this block :?

And - Er - £600 …..”evidence on a digital camera and we already have one case of doctoring the evidence from Bury last year….

The paper’s leader column (the lovely Angela Kelly) reckons this mob are clamping down on common sense and after pointing out the rather daft laws aiding and abetting these cowboys…namely notices and release after agreeing to pay…she goes on to remark that the clamp is going “out of fashion” as a clamped vehicle only prolongs the nuisance park-up and obstruction and Manchester is now about to ditch them completely.

As i posted elswhere - always reminds me of a Dave Allen sketch/rant on wheelclamping - this was his point -"they're blocking the road -so what does the council do --they clamp the b*****things and block the road for longer" ( or words to that effect, probably a lot more **** though)
