How nice it was to be able to celebrate St. George's Day this year without any interference from the PC brigade saying it might offend people. Or has there been interference I've just not seen?

I'm Scottish, so I'm not bothered about St George's Day to be frank, but I am glad that the English CAN enjoy it without some PC crap getting in the way.

Good for you :)

I didn't see any interference, but I didn't see any celebration either...

Haven't really noticed much about patron saints, but up my way the council spunked a fortune throwing away all the Christmas lights and replacing them with big "Seasons Greetings" signs so as not to offend any non-Christians.

They actually did manage to offend the Christians in doing so, thereby defeating the purpose??

I have no time for political correctness

Im english and Im not bothered about it.

Im not anti PC or anything but I know for a fact what would happen if it were made into a bank holiday.

Every pub would be overcrowded with people draped in the St George flag with cringe worthy performances to prove to people around them they are proper English. Doesn't really appeal to me.
If people just went out and celebrated normally it wouldn't be so bad and I really don't want another one of my days off earmarked for a day of the year.

Do you think the BBC having the daily service from a Scottish church on St George's Day was a bit provocative (or PC)?

I was going to go to the pub to celebrate, but unfortunately, my ingestion of a large G&T, a glass of Dalwhinne, a glass of white wine, four pints of Ringwood Best and two different large glasses of Calvados the previous night made this less appealing.
