Driving home today I saw a large hoarding poster advertising the Hyundai SantaFe 4x4. It had been defaced by yellow stickers saying "Climate Criminal" and had pink paint thrown on it.

I hope the paint was water based and contained no chemicals harmful to the environment. :D

How long before our cars are trashed?

Land Rover’s Solihull factory is running at full capacity, churning out big 4x4s as fast as it can to meet record global demand, while in Manchester, the country’s only Hummer H2 dealership reports steady sales of the US sport utility vehicle.

And a Hyundai Santa Fe is about the size of a Mondeo Estate...

OK :scratchchin:

Let's rephrase it:

A Hyundai Santa Fe is about the size of a Toyota Prius :D

Hmmm... Doesn't that suggest rather strongly that those "anti blood-sports boys" had, in fact, very little interest in "blood-sports" per se but were merely there either for extreme left-wing ideological ideas, or for any violence that they could generate?

Which is why I always thought that anyone who shoots or fishes was being very naive by supporting a hunting ban. Do they not think they'll be next?

The hunting ban was not principally to do with animal rights but was a manifestation of the "class warfare" burning in some people. Hence the shift of their gaze to 4x4s driven by "toffs". OK, they don't wear red coats in the car but you get the idea.

As far as I'm concerned, ANY group of people who resorts to valdalism / harassment or any other form of what is basically bullying in order to get their way should be treated no different to a common thug.

So its OK for tree huggers to sabotage hunts (resulting in horses and riders being injured), firebomb people's cars, damage crops and release farmed animals into the wild where they cause havoc among the local wildlife (mink farm anyone?) but its not OK for someone to place bombs on a train? IMO it's the same thing, and its called TERRORISM. The only reason that the tree-huggers get away with it is because they're protecting the nice little puppies from the nasty scientists rather than fighting for freedom from a particular goverment or whatever.

They're anarchic nutters, plain and simple and all they are doing is jumping on political bandwagons in an attempt to justify their actions. I would see them banged up and branded for what they are.

*note - I do realise that not all people concerned with animal welfare are nutters*

Absolutely agree Sixy - 100%.

Anyone engaging in such violence should be shot dead on the spot without warning, same as any other terrorist would be.

Peaceful protest is one thing, but when it starts to involve people's personal lives, their safety, their property and the operating of the business (I recall watching a programme about an animal testing facility that was frequently targeted by blockades, hatemail etc. The blockades were technically "peaceful" but prevented anyone getting to their work, thus stopping the research) should be dealt with by equal force as neccessary.

Incidently, anyone objecting to animal testing should automatically be submitted for testing in place of their chosen animal until they can think of a better way of testing new medicines etc.

<devil's advocate>Does that apply to people who vandalise speed cameras as well? </devil's advocate>

Most definitely not! It's not vandalism - it is an act of public-spiritedness! :D As expressed in another post, these people should be awarded some sort of medal for "services to road safety".

I suppose technically it should, shouldn't it? But it depends on the method really, I meen, I could accidentally drive into it with my 4x4 and accidentally knock it down, couldn't I?
