In around two months time, I'm moving to Dingwall. I'm pretty sure that Paul and Botach, amongst others, are near and from respectively that region, so what roads can you recommend?

Roads for living? For driving? For sight seeing? For arriving? Or something else?

Definitely my no 1 is the road to Kyle! :)

But I think they're all great up there.

Dingwall - never been that far north , or east --it's more Paul's back yard . Sorry.
Only time i've been to Kyle was by sea .

Head North and West, can't go far wrong.

Lovely roads and the most considerate drivers in the country.

Lucky you.

Anything within a 50/75 mile range from Fort William in all directions - you'll meet single track roads , some updated from my knowledge , all with fantastic views , some very critical of your driving - some giving a very good return on your time spent at low speeds - like the view from Ardumuchan light - last visit - max speed 20 MPH . Sorry - my knowledge of this area is years out of date - i know the area , but not the roads.
One fantastic trip - if available is to go on thr forestry sand road fron near Kinlocheilside /Glenfinnan to Strontian --last time i did it was about 30 years ago - scenery --even to me (and i'm used to it ) was absolutly fantastic. Another good drive for scenery is the road from Lochailort (A861) TO AcHARACLE and ultimately Strontium , via ferry to Fort William. Great Roads - but not so great as 30 years ago -

But locally - suggest Paul or Jamie Duff have more local roads - my two ambitions are to go accross the kepoch bridge( was never there in my time in nverness at college) , and take Mrs B across the SKYE bridge

Dingwall is a gret place to start days out.
I recommend a trip to Cromarty on the east coast, or through Strathpeffer and Garve, then turn left to Gairloch on the west coast - it's a long trip, single track for much of the way, and very nearly a cul-de-sac!

Watch out for deer on the road at nights!

Ex-Liberal Leader Charles Kennedy is the local MP, so if you see anything you dont like, he's the man to write to! :)

In Canada they fitted small devices on the front wings that whistled out of human hearing range that were suposed to keep the deer away.

They might have worked, we didn't hit any :!:
