I was listening to Talk Sport today and one of the things that really struck a chord with me was "I AM GETTING SICK AND TIRED OF EVERY NEWS ARTICLE BEING ABOUT BLOODY MUSLIMS" :? :?

Our news is now being dominated by 2% of the poulation according to the last census, lets look at the news.

Head veils, take them off, if I was to walk round a city centre with a balaclava over my head, how long would it be before the boys in blue took me away. :x

Iraq, if you feel your brothers are suffering at the hands of the UK and USA, bye bye go and help them, but don't bother coming back. :x

Same goes for Afghanistan. :x

If you want to live in ghettos and not intergrate, bye bye to you as well. :x

Object to my daughter celebrating OUR Christian beliefs, bye bye to you as well. :x

Want seperate laws to live under, you guessed bye bye. :x

Have a chip on your shoulder for living in a white christain country, BYE BYE to you as well. :x

Want to intergrate, live under our laws, accept this country is a WHITE, CHRISTIAN, EUROPEAN country and not an extension of some middle Eastern enclave, then you are more than welcome to stay in our beautiful country, just shut up accept you are here intergrate into society and stop winging about everything in the UK. :)

Phew, rant over, now maybe we can have some other news stories on the TV and radio :D

I'd cut back on coffee, or drink decaffeinated if I were you

It's not just Muslims in the press - we should all be more critical of the media for unbalancing the facts.
look at how the Scamera partnerships, DfT etc all get great access to press coverage, while Paul struggles to get stories taken up!

If it was not for the coffee, I would have fired both barrels

My point is almost everyday when I listen to the five live or talk sport phone in, it is all about Muslim this and Muslim that, if people just got on and accepted where they live and how we live we would be fine.

Question on speed cameras, if a muslim lady was driving with her veil on how would they identify the driver?? Must start driving round Essex in my balaclava, that will confuse them

it is an interesting point, though, if your car is accessible to a couple of Muslim women who would normally wear a veil, you would not be able to identify them, therefore having made a reasonable effort to find out you are unable to point the finger with 100% certainty. I can see the case being dropped.....

I am not anti-muslim or anything like that, my parents both came here (separately before meeting and marrying) in the 60's. they have both integrated into this country and consider themselves to be British nationals, but my father does comment on how "bloody foreigners" come over here and dont attempt to speak the language or integrate into the culture.

what happens when certain minorities start complaining about the drinking of alcohol in public? we are already being made to feel guilty about wearing crucifixes whilst veils, burkas, etc are being tolerated!

this PC extremism has got to stop somewhere....

Hmm, and I thought is was only me.

Every other news item is about some poor disgruntled muslim that doesn't want on intergrate. It keeps making me smile about this veil teacher woman. Will, the local scroats kick up a fuss when they get told to take their hoodies down?

I don't have any problem with people from all over the world moving here, but why is it always Muslims that won't get on?

Problem is that untill the powers that be start teling Muslim women that in the UK ALL PERSONS OF BOTH SEXES are equal - (just as the Austrialians are doing) ---we will get this .
It's not the racial laws that need upholding - it's the sex equality act with respect to ALL races - a thing i thought had been brought in to UK law.
If they insist on women being veiled , then muslem men had better head to the veil makers - "sauce for the gander is conversley sauce for the goose"

Wonder how long the "tradition " would last if they had to wear it ??

AIUI: Christianity is a relative religion/life-guide – “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you” (all are equal). AFAIK this does not apply in Islam, hence Muslims think nothing of their seemingly unfair behaviour. A great many, especially those raised with Christian values, miss that subtle point.

Smeggy - recently i had a sort of "fly on the wall " experience ---

One gent selling something the other wanted. (Yep - both from that sub continent)
No " do unto others" here----both were intent on getting best possible price,at all costs.

We cleared the area and left them to it - for several hours :o

Now my other post said something about their like of a bargain.

On the other hand - i have had several Muslim friends - in Africa - i had a bloke( from India ,and several of his mates) who was possibly the best mate ( in british terms , a brit could wish for), then again - in this country both me and my wife have met several Muslims that brits would be only too pleased to call friends .They have some funny habits - but then - are we clear of these ????

Problem is that the ones coming into this country seem only to be educated about racial predudice .The time has come , it seems to get rid of the artifical bariers to racial integration - British people are the most understanding people in the world - til the racial equalities board gets invlved.

lets take those things one by one.

White. Mostly? Partly? This country has been made up of immigrants for thousands of years, whilst not of a majorly different skin pigment, our Royal Family are German immigrants for example (3rd generation, perhaps).

Christian? Don't make me laugh. Church congregations have, in the most part, been declining for years (although, ironically, they are starting something of an increase int he last couple of years, as have all faith groups, as studies show that people of faith tend to have more children than those of no or lapsed faith). Unless you count the legions of yobs, chavs and drunks who think being Christian is covered by "celebrating" Christmas (giving tat from "Elizabeth Duke at Argos" to each other, turning up drunk at Midnight Mass) and overindulging on chocolate as a way of commemorating THE MOST SACRED EVENT in the Christian Calendar? Chocolate? How those other faiths must laugh when we describe our country as Christian, when the most important thing to a large number of people is chocolate.

European. I can't argue with this ... the Tories can (sometimes, when David Cameron is in his increasinlgy rare "not like Tony Blair" persona), and for a large number of tabloid garbage readers, it's under discussion a lot of the time. So perhaps we are European when it suits us, but not when it doesn't (going to war in Iraq, for example - a solid European stance would have been to let George Walker Bush go it alone).

For the record I am white with Irish heritage, a practising Catholic, and entirely pro-European. I would support a non-Christian festival called Winterval so that all of the drunken excess and secular gift giving celebrations could be removed from one of the most important events in the Christian calendar. I support and endorse any faith group wanting to live by their own faith where it does not diverge from the law of the country ... for example Mormons are only allowed one wife in this country. If you want an example of a set of rules of a faith diverging from the laws of the country (which is what is the underlying tenet of a lot of the anti-Islam feeling posited here) then look at the worst case - the Anglican and Catholic churches still do not have full equality for females in their orders. That is in direct violation of the laws of the land and should be stamped out, surely?

Be a citizen of the world, not a little Englander.

Extending from that - I notice, as a Scotsman, that a great many English people switch between English and British depending on the situation too.

I'm quite sure the same can be said about the Scots (or Irish or Welsh) from an English perspective, but it's not noticeable to me as I'm immersed by it.

Funny old world eh?

the one I notice most is sport reports. If a Scots(wo)man/Welsh(wo)man wins (on the odd rare occassion :) ) then it will be a glorious a British triumph but if the same person loses they're no longer British but Scottish/Welsh.
