I thought it was on the harsh side to be honest, I was expecting a 14/28 day ban at worst.

Was that a straight ban for the offence, or under totting up? Six months is unduly harsh and I would have expected it to be reduced on appeal. The fine is partly based on disposable income so less likely to change.

What's the point of banning someone who has a police driver to take him round? Not much hardship there.

I am astonished and furious at this decision! Huges has got off very lightly!

THIS IS A CLASSIC CASE OF DOUBLE STANDARDS!! WHY SHOULD HE GET SUCH A LEINIENT SENTENCE??

Hello Scrawf,

I'm very sorry to hear of your plight, and it does seem terribly harsh compared with the Hughes case. Do you mind telling me where you got caught?

Best wishes all,
Dave.

TripleS,

There was a thread about Scrawfs capture and conviction - just do a search on all posts in his name via his profile. It included pictures of the "officer" and where he hid behind a hedge.

However, i keep getting a "Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted..." error when trying to go there. Anyone know what's up?

mb

Quote:
Bosses back speeding police chief

The chief constable of South Yorkshire has escaped formal action by his police authority bosses despite being convicted of speeding.

Meredydd Hughes, who is serving a six-week driving ban after being caught driving at 90mph in a 60mph zone, will not face disciplinary action.

The authority said the 49-year-old continued to have its full backing.

Hughes was caught speeding in his Y-reg Audi on the A5 at Chirk near Wrexham while he was on holiday on 28 May.

He was disqualified for 42 days and fined £350 by Wrexham magistrates.

The chief constable did not appear in person before magistrates but entered his guilty plea via his solicitor, Huw Edwards.

He has since quit his role as chairman of roads policing at the Association of Chief Police Officers (Acpo)

The fine looks light. what would a CPO earn - £60-70K package? 350 quid is low.
