You'll all like this one, it's from an old article regarding the M4 cameras:

Nothing else has changed on the motorway since they were introduced. There are no extra police patrols, only the cameras, and we have fewer collisions, so we have to draw some conclusions.

nothing other that almost permanant 50 limits and road works with gatsos every mile.
changes in the road surface and the central barriers, message infrmation boards... no, nothing at then...

then they will also have been told not to report them as serious... and the police have been replaced with highways agency and roadworks patrols so smaller incidents were cleared up without police involvment.

“It has never been the rule in this country – I hope it never will be - that suspected criminal offences must automatically be the subject of prosecution” He added that there should be a prosecution: “wherever it appears that the offence or the circumstances of its commission is or are of such a character that a prosecution in respect thereof is required in the public interest”
This approach has been endorsed by Attorney General ever since 1951. CPS Code

If all traffic travelled at a steady pace and drivers maintained a safe distance between vehicles, the risk was greatly reduced.

Which would suggest they would agree that if all road users travelled at 110mph, but at a safe distance, it would be safe too...

I'm not sure about you lot but personally I feel far far less safe when I'm in there lanes of traffic all moving between 65 and 70 mph rather than three lanes of free moving traffic.

All that aggressive speed enforcement achieves is 65mph congestion, poor lane disciplne and I would suggest raises the general driver 'stress' levels....all good safe stuff I'm sure you'll agree.
