Nokia 32 , no PBX it looks like it works on a mobile network from FAQ, so still dodgy .

Handset on Amature radio/CB- apart from the mike switch , don't think the audio output of a radio would like the reciever.

Hence the cordless phone :)

This one sais it is for PBX use but I suspect you can plug any phone in to it. If not they do have an earlier (and cheaper :| ) model which was designed as an interface between a home phone and a GSM network.

Oh yes, there would be a lot of issues with it. However you could take your desk mike and speakers appart and selotape them to a toilet roll tube to make a "handset".

I would personally take it all the way to court if i got fined for calling 999 while driving.

one time i remember calling 999 because on the M11 between duxford and stansted there was a step-ladder standing upright in the middle of the fast lane. i would have been dangerous stopping and couldnt exit the motorway for at least 10 minutes. It was one of those occasions where i even contemplated stopping and walking back and recovering it myself because it was going to go right into somebodies windscreen.

Now if i got pulled over then fair enough, they dont know who i was talking to, but i dont think it would ever get to court.

IMO there is nothing wrong with the mobile phone law, you cannot tell me that you all believe it is safe and acceptable to drive down the road at speed dialling a number or searching for a stored number or even texting as you go...

i had the pleasure recently of spending a day on road with GMP motorway police, and believe me they dont miss anything, mobile phone users, hgv drivers not wearing seatbelts(yes hgv drivers do have to wear them), other car occupants not wearing seatbelts, vehicles in dangerous conditions, you name it.

To be fair the 2 people they stopped on the phones they gave fixed penalty tickets to and a warning.

With regards to the police, most road traffic cars are A) automatics and B) have fixed radio installations with activation buttons on the floor and steering wheels, this is to allow maximum safety whilst driving at speed.

It is very rare for bobbies to use the personal radio during pursuits etc as they dont have time especially single manned, i didnt see the prog in question so i cant comment as to the circumstances.

I dont think that this law is an ass it depends on the circumstances, and the decision to issue fpn or prosecute is dependant on this and the decision of the bobby and the cps...
