Doesn't he like Ruth Kelly or is this just Gordon's reshuffle?

Either he was pushed, or he decided to get out before Kelly's incompetence started to b*gger his CV up!

He was managing that just fine on his own - I exchanged letters with him over improving driver training, and his thinking was cloudy to say the least!
Our (now retired) Chief Constable was asking for the same as me, so he would have been disappointed too!

I've been googling news and I can find absolutely no word at all about a new roads minister.

Any ideas? Are they really ignoring the post so far?

There you go.
Motorcycles now pay congestion charge and to be fitted with speed limiters, along with engine size limits (600cc)
Speed cameras to be increased along with the penalties.
Road pricing to be rolled-out in the near future.
Fuel tax to be increased at inflation X 3 per annum.
New road building decreased (transport 2000 have her ear).

One thing you can say about Ruth, she does what she's told to do. A good party animal.

Eastcliff Matters: Ladyman to take on New Role for the Region

Image

PRIME Minister Gordon Brown has asked Kent MP Stephen Ladyman to step down as Minister of State for Transport.

Dr Ladyman, is anticipating he will be changing tack to take up a significant new role concentrating on development in the South East.

Although unable to elaborate on Thursday, when the announcement was made, he said details of his new post would soon be clarified.

Dr Ladyman said he had "thoroughly enjoyed" his ministerial role.

He said: "I've had several chats with Gordon Brown in recent weeks about the role he wants me to play in the future and we've agreed that I should concentrate on raising the profile of some of the serious challenges we face in the South East."

Some of the work on local issues that I've been doing in recent years has had to be done on a minister to minister level because of my Government position and has never made it into the public domain.

"In the future I will be able to be more open about what I'm trying to achieve."

I suspect this will be a dissapointment personally for Steve, but may well lead to good things for Thanet. If some of the ideas he has shared with me recently come to fruition, there could be exciting developments.

Sorry to hear about Steve's demotion to a 'Back Bencher'

Just another kick in the N*** for the south east, but what do you expect from Mr Brown!

Could in have been something like, "Good bye, go back to Thanet, I don't have anything for you to do here. You have messed things up enough"
