Hi all,

Just looking for some assistance from my fellow drivers in Leeds!

Two new 'Truvelo' cameras (i.e. the infra-red type that face the traffic) have been erected on the outskirts of Leeds near Seacroft - as you turn up the A64 towards York from the ring road A6120. Heading towards York the road is briefly dual carriageway then becomes one lane, the cameras are sited just after on both sides of the road. The speed limit is 50mph at this point. Hopefully the locals will know where I mean!

The cameras are currently (as of last night) grey in colour, which would suggest they are not yet operational if the West Yorkshire Safety Camera Partnership website is to be believed (i.e. all housings to be painted yellow).

However, I've read in some places that there are plans to return cameras in certain locations to being less visible (i.e. grey).

I would try the WYSCP for an 'official' answer but they won't respond for 7 days if at all!

Does anyone know the 'facts' about these particular cameras in terms of whether they are 'live' as yet?

Cheers

heard a rumour that new scams in grey were top priority for MAD, so if they get torched they only have themselves to blame.

In what possible way is criminal vandalism a fault of the local authority?

If someone opens a business near a rough estate, is it "their fault" if the building gets broken into?

It would not be criminal vandalism, but criminal damage.
If set fire to, it would be arson.
Both covered by the Criminal Damage Act 1971.

56 years after it was decided it was needed, the Bedford Bypass is nearing completion. The last single carriageway length of it.We have the most photogenic mayor though, always being photographed doing nothing

The Truvelo Combi SMc system is NOT infra-red. It uses a white flash which, when used in front-photography mode, has a magenta filter over it.

Can you see a camera lens in the small hole?
I'm not sure how well they show up. You can see the Gatso ones quite clearly if you know what to look for.

If they are doing front photography then you could test it out with a motorbike. Erm, if you were a 'criminal', obviously.

Don't try it in this county.
If you regularly use the road and you know you have been flashed then avoid it for a month after.
The road will have law waiting around there for a few days after they "get the picture".....same time, same place.
