Well - I guess one way of making sure you have a 100% pass rate   :?

He charged his "students" £1000 in return for either taking the test for thme himself or arranging for another to take test for them.

AT Minshull Crown Court, Manchester per the MEN site - M Zahid was jailed to just 10 months and ordered to pay just £1700 of his proceeds under the "Proceeds of Crime Act"

His six "helpers" got three month suspended terms  , a two month long curfew and a 12 month driving ban each. One of them also has to do 80 hours "Community Service" and the one member of this gang who pleaded "not guilty" received a 4 month jail term and and 18 month driving ban.

Two men have yet to be caught. They were arrested - but have "absconded" - presumably abroad.

The matter came to light and the gang finally caught after a pattern of suspected impersonations began to emerge at Driving Test Centres around the country - including Durham :x :x :x in March 2005.

I wish they could have been banged up for longer though.,

[Yes Prime Minister mode on.. machinator Brown who comes across as more "machiavellian Urguahart" as portrayed by the late Ian Richardson  in House of Cards MODE ON ]

Unfortunately, with certain foreign sounding names - we have to tread on eggshells lest the politically correct mob choose to misinterpret. I confess to not being overly surprised at the names listed in the paper for some reason which some may guess at. . but we cannot possibly comment

But let's just use the code word "Teddy Bear" :shhh: and cuddly teddy bears all look "similar" on one of those awful passport photos after all.

But the problem facing us because of this sort of crime is the one which means biometric "all yer data" cards which we have to fork out for and still no guarantee of personal safety and privacy given the cavalier or even chavalier attitude the government bodies seem to have as regards safe-keeping of such data. :banghead: But even with this biometirc doo-dah.. they'd still "pussy foot" around some out of pee-cee fear of being accused of not being pee-cee.

[Sir Humpy etc MODE OFF]

But given the serious nature of this fraud and the danger of substandard - seriously substandard - drivers being out there as a result of this.. the sentence handed down is paltry.

The article does not say if the drivers who benefited and who are driving unlicenced have been rounded up and brought to account though.

Confirmation bias.

There are countless stories all over the news about misconduct by people with non-foreign names, you just aren't counting them.

It is an interesting and rather worrying development that I have noticed whereby people found guilty of driving offences are being given curfews.

What is the purpose/benefit of giving people curfews, which I though could only be brought into effect under martial law?

I agree. He should have got longer and his helpers should have been sent down, too.
