I am sure I have already posted up the stories of this junction in Bolton.. with BUS drivers cast as the "villains" here
This one involves a car driver.
I have emboldened the bits which suggest SPEED is not the cause.. but engineering and perhaps pedestrian behaviour just could be the real problem here based on the reports and what my sisters say who shop in Bolton quite often. (One works in Bolton..)

A WOMAN suffered serious leg injuries after being hit by a car at a notorious town centre junction.
The accident, which happened yesterday afternoon, has prompted fresh calls for action.
Shelley Greyo suffered a suspected broken ankle in the latest incident at the junction of Knowsley Street and Deansgate.
It was the third incident in as many months. Pensioner Anne Knowles was killed at the junction after being hit by a bus in March and a man was treated in hospital for serious injuries when he was hit by a car in April.
Now bosses at shops near the junction are calling on Bolton Council to take action.
Phones4U manager David Hulme said: "Over these last six weeks, we've seen someone knocked over dead, a man knocked down and now this. I can't understand why the council doesn't do something about it.
"If you sit and watch for five minutes, it's amazing what goes on. Traffic needs to be slowed down. We see it every day."

I think there is a perception that the buses appear to swing around what I understand to be a sharp corner. Will ask the girls to take some realisitic photos of this. I have wandered around Bolton and I think I know the junction. I think it it is a sharp 75 degree angle if I recall correctly
I would then agree that parking might be a problem and whilst Bolton has some pretty steep parking fees - it does have umpteen proper carparks with two stores offering free parking up to two hours provided you did shop in their stores
I believe my two sisters hit the "reduced for quick sale" with a vengeance and emerge with bags suggesting they spent a three figure sum when they paid under a fiver

Right.. well if the police decided that no action could be taken against the driver based on the CCTV footage does suggest the lady may well have caused the problem here. No charges suggests the driver did not break any laws - and I do suspect hesitation and misunderstood communication between each party may have been the real problem here and not speed or the nature of this junction,. Understandably the lady;s friends were upset .. but even so .. this does not and should not mean they threaten or menace the driver who was trying to do the decent thing and report and comfort the person he collided with by accident here.
It has shades of the tasering of the emotional boyfriend in the tragic case involving a a police car in pursuit and 16 year old ...whom I judge from the reports to be a nice decent lass.
If I compare the two reactions of white heat rage for a moment .. I do wonder if this uncontrolled rage which creates danger to the extent that the police needed to taser to control one and the other driver was forced to flee the scene of an incident which he was fully prepared to face up to with liablilty and shocked remorse and concern for the injured lady..
has a lot to do with the constant placing of the driver as the villain of the piece before all facts are known or even assessed properly Let us never forget that the normal folk who do have accidents which hurt all involved .. sometimes tragically.. are not of the same ilk as the joy-rider from hell with zero regard or compassion or feeling for others. Thus type hurt forever .. like those injured as a result of their moment's lapse or fated chance series of co-incidentals.
I think this driver fell into this category.
Anger is understandable.. but I just know that if any of mine happened to be injured for any reason.. my instinct will be to apply the first aid to comfort .. save them. I would then sort out the rest via insurers and lawyers as we did when my own Wildy
fell victim to a driver who happened to be taken ill.
We did make our peace with his widow.. admittedly after some time. Time is a great healer. HONESTLY! She sent us flowers on each anniversary. We kept asking her not to remind us like this. When Wildy fell unexpectedly pregant with our son, Lukas (and we never thought she could after that trauma.. which was partly why we signed up to fostering to help kids and perhaps even selfishly satisfy our own desire for a large family ..
We are brutally honest with ourselves..in all reality. We saw it as a way to help others and even ourselves here
)
Anyway.. Lukas was born.. naturally and my wife stayed healthy-ish. The widow of the man who caused us such trauma.. became both godparent and honorary grandmother to Lukas and later Rachael Elisabeth (who will be 4 years in October now

We learned.. anger achieves nothing. Does not make things better. Does not "improve our lives by being bitter towards all who have car/bike/bicycle accidents for any reason"
What does improve for all is an acceptance that accidents can happen.. but to try to educate to reduce risk of such accident. We think C O A S T doe HELP.
Only a deranged fool would argue with this.
Militant mueslli munching.. lentil burger farters and Lycra louts would seem to be deranged fools then
We ride bicycles. We grow some foods.. We recycle .. We do not waste. But we do not consider we single handedly save the planet by doing so or by driving our cars considerately and smoothly to make sure we get value for money and "keep it enviro-friendly"
We do not do "dangerous or careless or inconsiderate drivng. cycling or walking." either.
Obviously police saw something on CCTV to suggest driver blameless here
