Guardian tosh but I like the correction at the bottom. They corrected "brake horsepower" to "break horsepower"! Real enthusiasts.

I think Joe intended for the word used to be 'break' to demonstrate his, to him, cool lack of knowledge or possibly a poor attempt at wit. A helpful proof reader must have corrected Joe's 'mistake' in an effort to stop him from looking like an imbecile however it appears Joe then insisted on being one. By making it clear that he neither has nor wants to have any knowledge of motoring he therefore removes all credibility to make statements about the subject.

Perhaps his next article will cover the useful tips he has for neurosurgery after enjoying watching the removal of a brain tumour on TV.

What I don't get is why is he comparing cars with politics saying they are linked to "Tories" in some way? I loved cars before I even knew what a Tory was :D I am not in your face about loving cars but if someone made a snide comment about cars and what I think about them my answer would be "I love cars and I'm proud of it" and leave it at that.

Well I love cars, and the last person to call me a Tory is buried in the car park. (Note - figure of speech ;) )

yeah, The BBC's really impartial, which is why, despite being BB2's most viewed show attracting around 8 million viewers, it remains on the beebs "second" channel instead of being moved onto B1 like every other success.

New series this sunday, Beeb 2, obviously BBC1 has the far more relevant and topical two ronnies repeat to air...

(not that I really give damn s'long as it's on, but those kinds of comments just flick my switch sometimes.)

I am glad it is still on BBC2, a number of programs I have enjoyed when moved to BBC1 became less interesting and somehow lost their edge. I think a certain level of mainstream dumbing down occurs so that the beeb feels comfortable to put a show on 1.

Mind you the presenter I most identify with is James May so what do I know. :)

eg, brian blessed on have I got news for you. good point. very good point actually, the commercial breakdown with jimmy carr is a good example. Essentually a simple format, the old ones with jasper carrot are (from memory) quite watchable, but there's something difficult to describe about the irritation I felt when watching that the other night, and it's not just the one-gag-act that is mr. carr, although that didn't help.

I quite like cars, I like my own car quite a lot, but I'd draw the line at saying I loved cars.

But hey, whatever floats your boat. Just be careful after you turn the engine off, let the exhaust cool down a bit first.

 Well it's more like a sort of companionship kind of love actually :bighand: I guess a better way of saying it would be I love everything about them/involving them, from the styling of even basic cars like the Ford Focus, to the hazy exhaust smoke which you only see if you are lucky on modern cars :( And several kinds of motorsport as well :) Can't imagine feeling the way that guy feels which is a relief

They just love winding people up. You can't be this un-PC by accident:

Drink driving

smoking

homophobic

racist

and evan crippled kids aren't safe from their bile

Some people really need to get a grip.

Frankly, the TG team don't wind me up at all - their "offensive" remarks would IMHO, only really offend people who are thin-skinned beyond imagination.

:gatso2: If you've ever seen Clarkson's "The Good The Bad and The Ugly" DVD, you can't possibly miss the scene where he hires an American redneck to machine-gun a Toyota Prius.
