Charles Clarke was on at 0750 today talking about his 'radical new ideas' for making users of services provided by the state, erm, pay for them. That crazy leftie!

Very much in passing, he used the example of road pricing meaning that 'those who used the roads would pay more tax to do so than the general tax payer'.



Was I dreaming that I paid fuel duty, VAT on fuel, VED, insurance tax, VAT on car servicing, MOT fees, etc?

You weren't dreaming, they do seem to be ignoring that those who use roads already pay more to do so than the general tax payer. Odd how these things slip their minds...
