By all accounts .. given "congestion claims" - traffic already travels allegedly at this speed.

Apparently - per the Bury Times - the 20 mph zone will affect traffic on Angouleme Way (A58?) and will extend through Bolton Street.. Silver Street.. Haymarket Street .. The Rock and Broad Street.

The council agree that 20 mph would be appropriate as they have "engineered calming measures such as extended pavements"

The 20 mph limit will be introduced in Bury Centre before the end of this year.

Surely to goodness if the engineering has worked there's no need to change the speed limit  Waste of time and money. Or are there a couple of wider straighter bits to put a cameras along side?

What??? :banghead:

Angouleme Way is a dual carriageway that was originally built to bypass the town centre!!!

If they made the area enclosed by Angouleme Way, Jubilee Way and Peel Way a 20 it might be a recognition of reality, but slapping a 20 on Angouleme Way itself is utterly ridiculous.

I used to drive along there daily when working in the area so know exactly what it is like.
