:gatso2: I clearly remember signing a government petition showing that I disapprove of this.

So did I and millions of others but, it's obvious this government don't care what you, me and millions of others think. :(

So what's new then ?
It was said at the time that it would make no difference.
The "aim" has always been to reduce the amount of CARS on the road, by whatever means possible. If that means pricing them off the road, then that's the way it will go. Note that pricing them off the road does not mean forcing people to give them up, entirely. Just to use them a lot less but still get revenue out of them.
So, things that "managed motorways" need.
They need to be able to differentiate between vehicles. That means that some sort of id will have to be allocated to either the vehicle or driver, and be "read" from the start/finish of the charged road/section of road. Obviously, both id's would be desirable. But the cars would be easier.
Then the infrastructure needs to be there to do the job. Fortunately, that is already in place along each section of m/way. Then the "readers". That's already being tested.
This was always going to happen.
And it makes not a jot of difference who is the ruling party, the elected politicians do not make the decisions.

Basic deceit.
Read and learn.
Corruption without the money (until you go a lot deeper ans dig into who owns what, and who gets paid what)
