Whites striker clocked driving 101mph on M62
6:20pm Wednesday 4th February 2009

A BOLTON Wanderers footballer has been banned from driving for seven days after being caught speeding on the motorway.

Zoltan Harsanyi, a 21-year-old reserve team striker, was caught driving at 101mph on the M62.

He admitted the offence and was fined £600 and ordered to pay £40 prosecution costs.

Calderdale magistrates heard that Harsanyi was driving his Audi TT along the M62 towards Manchester, having been for a coffee in Leeds with a Leeds United player.

Andy Wills, prosecuting, said the offence happened on August 24 last year.

He said: “Harsanyi told the officers, ‘I wanted to go past the car in front of me — I did not know what the speed limit was’.”

Harsanyi had been using his Slovakian driving licence.

Nick Ross, defending, said the young footballer had held his licence for three years and had been driving in the UK for two years.

Mr Ross said: “He was overtaking a number of vehicles and secondly he was overtaking and was not sure what the speed limit was.”

Mr Ross asked the magistrates to consider imposing a financial penalty.

But he added: “Harsanyi is not in the same bracket as the Beckhams or Robinhos of this world. He is a young man, 21 years old, at the start of his career.”

The Slovakian was initially signed from FC Senec on loan.

He later sealed a permanent three year contract at the Reebok Stadium in May, 2007.

Harsanyi has yet to make a first team appearance for the club, but has scored frequently for the Wanderers reserves.

Oh yeah? :banghead:

Pigs may fly. Moon may be cream cheese. .. per speculation.

Footballers have no balls of common sense. per FACT PROVEN FACT.

Compare this 7 day ban to a late 2003 case which the late Paul posted to PH at the time.

Police TRAINER got pinged on his return to family after a day of training cops to drive safely enough at above the ton. He ha spent 8 hours at 120 mph, He drove on empty road allegedly at that speed.

He got three month ban and a career in "mince and tatties"

Then Durham's trainer.. he accelerated on empty motorway as it occurred to him as a serious test zone on spur of moment. He had not cleared this though. He ended up with a ban .. longer that this fool received.

How in God's name? Given folk swear on His Oath in courts that they tell the TRUTH and NOWT ELSE BUT.. so Help Them GOD"!

methinks then that footballers .. have more US v THEM than anyone else on the planet and I am angry that better mannered in each aspect of life get rough justice .. and that INCLUDES POLICE AND LAWTERS AND POLITICIANS.

Something wrong here. They may be skilled at dribbing a ball. .. but they have little else in talent. Hoy and his cycling peers at least do have something else in their balls
