Could all drivers face 10-year health checks?
Motorists could soon face a range of new health checks to determine whether they're fit to drive, according to fresh proposals from the DVLA

And a poll asking if Speed cameras should be banned.

Quite right. I can no doubt find the necessary amount of cash to pay for it. It won't be being done by your regular doctor, but by a dvla approved examination centre. Most will not have doctors either, just "health professionals" to look at your (on-line) medical records and do the tests. I noted a comment on an occ therapists place a while ago about tendering for driving suitability examinations. After all, if people have to undergo medical tests and examinations for incapacity benefit (employment support allowance now), and not by doctors, why should drivers be any different ?

56 years after it was decided it was needed, the Bedford Bypass is nearing completion. The last single carriageway length of it.We have the most photogenic mayor though, always being photographed doing nothing

I hope the "health professionals" are better than those who do our occupational health screening. According to them I am deaf (could be the motor bike going past when she was doing the test) and blind (perhaps due to her doing a field centred reading test whilst i was wearing my bifocals). Would have got me ill-health retirement if proper doctors hadn't re-assessed me.
